This Rideau Heritage Route is both a journey and a destination as you pedal, paddle, cruise or drive through 200KM of Ontario’s history. Anchored by Ottawa’s Rideau Canal – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the route lets you travel back in time as you make your way through the heritage villages, historic locks and thriving shops along the Rideau Canal and Big Rideau Lakes.

See the Parks Canada locks in operation at 27 lock stations, all in the heart of Leeds and Grenville County. Enjoy a coffee as you stroll by Merrickville’s heritage buildings and hit the thriving shops in Westport and Newboro, or climb aboard a vintage 1940s cruiser and see Davis locks in action. A Rideau Canal tour is truly a leisurely visit to a gentler time, so take a deep breath, relax and enjoy the ride.
