In January, 2012,  The Great Waterway made a major announcement with a plan to work with Evolution Golf to bring the Canadian Professional Golf Tour, as well as a number of ancillary golf events, to Eastern Ontario beginning with a Canadian Tour event at Smuggler’s Glen GC from September 3-9, 2012.

The Great Waterway Classic will be the tournament title sponsor .

The September, 2012 tournament planned for Smuggler’s Glen will be the first time the Canadian Men’s Professional Golf Tour will conduct a tournament in the 1000 Islands region of Eastern Ontario. There will be a number pre-tournament events, including an opportunity for local golfers to qualify for the Canadian Tour event.

Further details about The Great Waterway Classic will be finalized in the Spring of 2012.
